Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary Review

I measure from the wall to the front. I can get you exact measurements when I get home.

Oh. You measure from the front? Oh fair enough. So mine are nearer 83cm from the wall then as the speakers are 33cm deep. I can’t actually move them back either given space and my back door opening swing but I can’t imagine it’s harming anything?

The closer you get to the wall, the more bass output.

Do they like being near corners or out in the room off a back wall ?

anyone tried using sand on the bottom of the stand rather than albums for more mass ?

Any other mods beneficial ?

How about optimal speaker cables without spending a fortune ?

Fair enough, I’m comfortable with the bass output I’ve got, wouldn’t want it to go up or down appreciably really. Which is as well given that the room dimensions right now means that they really are stuck!

I haven’t done sand or kitty litter yet.

My room is pretty small and my left speaker is towards (but not in) a corner. No issues.

Blue Jeans are good without breaking the bank. Can cables make a difference? Yes, but the small difference you get doesn’t often equate to cost.

Yeah agreed with all of this. My left speaker is only just outside of the swing of my back door, so pretty close to the corner and the speakers have no issues. Also using the BJC 10 speaker cable with locking banana plugs and couldn’t speak more highly of them for the price.

It would probably mess up the look of your Lintons and stands more so than it did my Focals, but adding IsoAcoustic isolation to my speakers (Gaia IIIs in my case) was an insanely good upgrade to my system. It’s a difficult to state how much of a difference they make unless you’ve heard it, but they’re worth every penny.

Reading this thread continues to make me extremely jealous. Wish I had the space to fit these bad boys in my setup!

I’ve had my eye on the Bordeaux for my PrimaLuna.

I have a set arriving today. They'll lift my Zus up off the ground more than is manufacturer recommended (they are literally bottom ported), but have been test driving them at Gaia III height, and think it sounded fine. Pretty excited to hear what they do. Got em from Crutchfield so I can return if needed.

It started with quarantine boredom for me. “I’ll just try them out and return them,” I said. “They couldn’t make enough of a difference to justify the price, but at least I’ll know,” I thought. This of course turned into “How the fuck is this even possible?!?” It was one of those updates where I feel like I’m listening to my collection through new ears. Or at a minimum, a new room.

This my concern...

I want them to blow me away like that

Anyone have any experience with driving the Linton's with newer amps ? I have a friend also looking at the Lintons and he wants a great matching, modern, synergistic amp. He is looking at Rega Brio-R, Audiolab 6000A, and Leak 130. His price range is about 1K or so usd.

@AnthonyI might be able to answer you that if he’s trialed them on his NAD as well as his Luna.
