What's Spinning

Miles Davis ‎– E.S.P. (Columbia, 1965 First Stereo Pressing)

@agutierrezb inspired me to play this one. Such a great album and as the title suggests, they all seem to know exactly what each others about to play before they do it. Pure class!

I can't wait to play my copy! I'm currently away from home, spending the quarantine with my parents, so don't have my turntable with me, but this will be the first thing I put on the platter once I go back to my place. This record isn't as adventurous as some of the later ones recorded by this group, but it sure points in the direction they would go in. It is interesting to hear them trying out the approach they would perfect down the road.

Lee Morgan ‎– The Cooker (Blue Note, 1958 first Mono pressing)

I've been inspired to play this one after seeing it make the rounds on Instagram. You might think its because of the new Tone Poet release, but its actually because a first mono pressing just sold for £1,322.70 plus £19.94 postage on eBay. I love records as much as the next person, and Lee Morgan is my favourite jazz musician.......but I can think of plenty of other things to spend that kind of money on.

[Most Interesting Man In The World voice] I don’t always keep Jonnie Walker around...but when I do, I keep it in the freezer.

It’s a pro move. Respect. Also, the Night King x JW logo was the only cool thing made out of the unfathomable shitload of GoT crossover merch that got crapped out during the final season. Is the scotch any good?
