George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou Benin
A first UK pressing of the best Beatles solo record bar none, and the surprisingly good final record of Poly-Rythmo from 1987 (although far from the last Poly-Rythmo album in my collection due to the quirks of my filing system - with them I file all their albums from Albarika Store, their main label, first and then it gets a bit more complicated...)
The vinyl is on its way to me so I'm not actually spinning this--listening to the download, but man, it's fantastic. Great songs, incredible voice, and a terrific band. Wow. I'd love to see her live. In the meantime, I think I'll be seeking out everything she's ever put out on vinyl. Oh, and did I mention her voice? Several comparisons come to mind, but you'll think I'm overstating it, so listen for yourself!
Tracking is saying I should have my copy of "No Dream" during the next few days since it finally arrived in Canada and cleared customs. Spinning this massive live album in anticipation.
Continuing on through the records my aunt and uncle gave me, we have some early Genesis! This is a beautiful shape copy, inside and out. Pretty solid stuff from Phil and company!
