Bob James - Once Upon A Time, The Lost 1965 New York Studio Sessions

Really digging this, especially "Lateef Minor 7th." Giving me some heavy Page McConnell '93 "Bowie" vibes.

Nice. I would have completely missed this one. On Resonance so it has to be well done. Just grabbed a copy from PlaidRoom. Surprised they still had any. 4 left at the moment.

“ Continuing Resonance’s tradition of supporting independent music retailers, the album will initially be available as a Record Store Day exclusive, in a 5,000-copy limited edition, 180-gm LP mastered by Bernie Grundman at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood and pressed at Record Technology, Inc. (RTI)”....looks like they pressed enough so that pretty much everyone who wants one should be able to buy one at retail. What an interesting idea. 🤔

One which I think will fly under the radar (as they have only just announced it, well after the original list was released) is their new November drop. Its Sonny Rollins - Rollins In Holland. This is on top of their September 'Bill Evans - Some Other Time: The Lost Session From The Black Forest' reissue. Resonance Records are killing it!

Thx. I heard about this but wasn’t sure when it was scheduled. I have the 1st press of Bill Evens. Awesome record. Resonance does a great job all around. Anything they put out is worth picking up.

Bar-Kays - Money Talks (Stax, 2020 VMP Classics Pressing)

I wasn't expecting much from this after seeing the less than enthusiastic response on the Classics thread, but I actually think its pretty good. Its not going to be my most listened to classics, but the pressing is fantastic and the tracks are funky, so I cant complain!

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#297: Wells Fargo - Watch Out

#298: V.A. - We Out Here

One of the best albums of the 2010's IMO, and certainly one that condenses a huge lot of talent and a wide variety of styles in just 2 LPs.

Was listening to XM’s Real Jazz on the way to the record store at 2:30 in the morning yesterday and they we’re interviewing Sonny Rollins and played a track from this, following with Sonny’s commentary. Track was phenomenal and it was interesting to hear him talk about himself, to which he said “I don’t comment on my own music; I am not a Sonny Rollins fan!”

Finally got to visit my local this year (ffs) to grab the stuff for the t-swap, had a look-see around, and god do I miss record shopping.

Euphone- Hashin it Out

Park Avenue? I miss that place. I’ve been buying everything touchless- I haven’t been to a record store at all this year.
