What's Spinning

Cross post from the Challenge Thread:

Day 11: “Judas!”.. Folky Acoustic stuff .. pipes, chunky jumpers and real ale etc ...

Inside Llewyn Davis: Original Soundtrack Recording (Nonesuch, 2013 First Pressing)

Perfect timing for today's challenge as I was streaming one of the tracks from this last night and decided to give the album a full spin today. Just a fantastic film with a killer soundtrack, Oscar Issac is a man of many talents!

#304: Atahualpa Yupanqui - Magia en la voz y la guitarra

So that's it. It took me over a year (with 2 extended hiatus while away from home), but I managed to play every record in my shelf. Of course, there have been some albums that I've purchased during the process, and that I haven't included in my little project, since their place in the shelf had already passed. So, for the sake of completion, I'll do a sort of "Coda" and play those records in order now.

Ella Fitzgerald - Ella In Hollywood (Verve, 1961 US Pressing)

A tasty session recorded a month before Clap Hands, Here Comes Charlie!. With Lou Levy on piano, Gus Johnson on drums and Herb Ellis on guitar. This had pops and surface noise the other day which was pretty overpowering. I gave it a clean and now there isn't a single bit of surface noise, it sounds like it was brand new today!

The Roots Of Modern Jazz - S/T (Olympic Records, 1974 UK Pressing)

An interesting cheapo pick-up from the carboot this week. I was drawn to it for Yusef Lateef's inclusion, something you dont often see in Jazz compilations. After a bit of discogs searching I discovered that it was originally released as a Charlie Parker sampler.
