EST - From Gagarin's Point Of View
The Charlatans - Live It Like You Love It
My favourite EST album, it's got everything (melody, fabulous playing, at times rock at times soft). In fact, I'm putting this back in my top 50 (it was in originally, then I swapped it out for a live recording, now I'll swap it back). And a pretty decent live album from one of my favourite British bands.
Thelonious Monk - Brilliant Corners (Riverside, 1958 US Mono pressing)
Happy Birthday to Thelonious Monk. I have built up quite the collection over the years, but Brilliant Corners is a stand-out. I also love my copy because it just goes to show that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. This is by far the most beat-up jacket in my collection, yet the record sounds stunning, with just a few faint crackles in between tracks.
It’s pouring down in typical October style here in Northern Europe. Even the dog refuses to go outside...
Yo La Tengo is one of my go to bands for fall listening. Maybe it’s that added time indoors that leads me to them. Anyway, Electr-o-pura was an album I discovered after a high school friend advised me in that direction: “It’s a bit weird, but if you take your time, I think you’ll like it” or something along those lines. And he was right, I think it’s still my favorite album of theirs although I Can Hear The Heart is of course also up there.
Anyways, this is the recent 2LP reissue. Sounding quite a lot better than the 1LP I also have.

Orchestre Poly-Rythmo de Cotonou - AI Gabani / Nanan Bnz / Je M'en Irai,Je Ne Sais Ou
Even with 200 Poly-Rythmo records I've still got some of their best stuff to get. These three fresh grabs illustrate this perfectly - three of their greatest singles.
