I am having a really hard time tonight.
Every year since 2014, I have been a part of a recreation of The Last Waltz on Thanksgiving Eve. I am a guest performer on some of my favorite songs, including "Helpless," "Acadian Driftwood," and "I Shall Be Released."
But when the cast of performers was first being assembled, I demanded to do "Coyote." At the time, there were no women part of the crew yet, so I was given the green light.
I am now known in this area as the guy who sings "Coyote." It amazes me every year how emotional and connected people are with that song and Joni Mitchell and I am proud that I have been accepted as being worthy of the song.
This is the first year we are not able to do this, and it is killing me.
I play this for memories I will make next year.
