I'm trying to get through this stack of new records that need playing before being filed away.
I understand why this mix isn't well thought of - as it is a pretty drastic change from the original...but I really like it. Some day I'll do a A/B comparison with my 1973 UK reissue - at least for side 2, as that side is a repress of the original UK release.
David Bowie – Metrobolist (Nine Songs By David Bowie) Parlophone – METROBOLIST 6, 1970/2020
50th anniversary mix of The Man Who Sold The World
Producer Randall Dunn, actor Linus Roache, and multi-instrumentalist Milky Burgess go behind the scenes of Jeremiah Sand’s Lift It Down, their forged artifact of a record
Joe Jackson - Body And Soul (A&M Records, 1984 First Pressing)
Well exciting news of the day is that I have a new local record shop, which opened today. I can see myself spending a fair bit of time there (especially considering it is just 5 mins walk away!). I picked up this Joe Jackson album today, with the artwork which is a homage to Sonny Rollins Vol 2.
Binker & Moses - Alive In The East
Village of the Sun
Not sure why I slept on Binker & Moses for so long (particularly as Moses Boyd was, I think, the first London jazz record I bought) but I'm v glad I've got into them more now. This is fantastic stuff, and I'm excited to get their latest in a few days too.
