The Top 50 project here made me realize that a major blind spot of my collection were artists of color. As such I've tried to diversify my listening and focus on these singers when poring through the tracks.
This one was a very fun $.97 grab from the used pile. This was pressed nearly 50 years ago and the trio is still active. A real motown / disco / soul mishmosh that made for a treat of an afternoon listen.

I turned an older friend on to this one a few years ago. He was about 5 minutes from home when Cortez came on, he drove past his house and kept driving until the whole album was over. It's a classic. I'd love to find this one at a reasonable price sometime.
