What's Spinning

I turned an older friend on to this one a few years ago. He was about 5 minutes from home when Cortez came on, he drove past his house and kept driving until the whole album was over. It's a classic. I'd love to find this one at a reasonable price sometime.

He chose wisely.

There are a few songs you never cut off and keep on truckin' til they're done. Off the top of my head...

Teddy Charles Quartet - New Directions (Prestige/Esquire, 1954 First UK 10" Pressing)

This is a really interesting release and part of a series that sees Teddy Charles experiment with free-form, cool-jazz, and spontaneity. This volume focuses on more varied types of harmony and its a really great session. I just wish it was longer than the 4 tracks included!
