Getting ready for my first watch marathon tomorrow of any of the DC movies made after the Nolan Batman films.
This is a drum centered score - with various session drummers that includes Danny Carey (Tool), Josh Freese (The Vandals/Devo/A Perfect Circle), Jason Bonham (Son of a famous drummer), Pharrell Williams, and Sheila E, and others.
It also has Tom "Junkie XL" Holkenborg sound to it, so I think he had a bit more to do with the finished product...which makes sense as he was promoted to co-score main artist for Batman V Superman, and the solo score for Zack Snyder's Justice League replacing the music of Danny Elfman in the original version Joss Whedon's version of the movie.
Hans Zimmer – Man Of Steel (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) Music On Vinyl – MOVATM285, 2013/2020
Gil Evans And His Orchestra - There Comes A Time (RCA, 1976 First Pressing)
This was a freebie thrown in with an order a while ago. It's an eletronic/jazz-fusion/avant-garde album that sounds VERY unlike what you imagine Gil Evan's music to be like. I think it's even more 'out there' than some of Miles Davis' fusion work (another startling contrast). Not one that gets spun a lot but an interesting one all the same.
Lianne La Havas – Blood (Warner Bros. Records, 2015 First Pressing)
Lianne La Havas was just announced as a headliner for a gig I should be going to in September, COVID permitting. Decided to dig this one out to get ready!
Side project with Troy Sanders (Mastodon) and Troy Van Leeuwen (QOTSA). I really liked their EP and first LP, but I had no idea this was released last December.
Gone Is Gone – If Everything Happens For A Reason...Then Nothing Really Matters At All Clouds Hill – CH213, 2020
Dexter Gordon – Doin' Allright (Blue Note, 1985 Stereo Pressing)
I bought a load of 70's/80's Blue Note reissues a few years ago for cheap as a chance to hear them on vinyl. This one is superb for the price and significantly better sounding compared with the BN75 pressings.
