Juju – Live At 131 Prince Street (P-Vine Records, 2019)
HOLY MOLY this album is insanely good. Some outstandingly fantastic free jazz and VERY different from their Oneness of Juju stuff. I picked this up expecting it to be in a similar vein to African Rhythms but its so much more (IMO). For context, this was recorded live at Ornette Coleman's loft venue which he briefly used as a hub for jazz jam sessions. Thoroughly recommend people seek this out, although it is a Japan-only release so it might be scarce in local record stores, online might be your best bet.
This album is very important to me personally. I discovered the world's nicest band through it and it connects to an emotional time at the end of high school.
The reissue is much criticized but I think it sounds pretty good. It's a power pop record from the 1990s. What do people expect? Music and lyrics shines in any case!
