What's Spinning

Durand Jones & The Indications-Private Space. Cherry Bob-omb edition.

This pressing is a little flat and there’s a weird surface noise between tracks similar to a picture disc. Musically I like it. Stand out tracks are Love Will Work It Out, Witchoo, More Than Ever and all of Side B.
I really like the psychedelic tinges on Sexy Thang and the bass line throughout out Sea Of Love is mesmerizing. But, I think I Can See might be my favorite track. The groove, the minor breaks and fuzzy guitar all hit that sweet spot. Plus Frazer’s falsetto isn’t so overbearing.

109 - Will Smith - Willennium
110 - Yola - Stand For Myself
111 - The Felice Brothers - Favorite Waitress
112 - Wax Poetic - S/T
113 - The Blanks - Riding The Wave
114 - Sesame Street - Born to Add

The Wax Poetic is the standout here. I think this is around 40-50 on re-sale and if you have any proclivity towards this kind of music, I strongly recommend a pickup. It sounds great and they took the time to make it feel perfectly right. The Sesame Street was a birthday gift and has some truly great classic rock parodies on it. The rest were a mix of pre-order pickups or cheaper Ebay grabs. Willennium has not aged well sorry to say, but some truly good listens in this batch. This also gets me to back to my "S" pile (though the newer grabs are nearing the size for a cleaning).

115 - Sylvan Esso - Sylvan Esso
116 - Stillwater - Stillwater
117 - Steve Earle - Train A Comin
118 - Supertramp - Breakfast in America
119 - Stars - No One Is Lost
120 - St. Vincent - Masseducation

If you made me predict beforehand if I were to keep or move on from these, I think I would've gone 2 for 6. That Stars record had not been played in a while and I enjoyed it so much I finally pulled the trigger on their greatest hits to complement it (since the individual albums are too pricy). I think I still want a copy of Sylvan Esso but I may downgrade it and grab some cash. Really fun group of six though all together, no real clunkers in the bunch...so if some of this group doesn't sell I'm sure not gonna be mad.

This will hopefully be the last group of six for a bit as I'm caught up on the tracking. It seems like I'm keeping about 75-80% of the albums I play here so I may need more cubes in the long run.
