I picked up this DOL pressing a few weeks ago from the used bin to fill a known hole in my collection, but I found that Blue Note had copies online from the Classics series. I generally avoid buying multiple copies of the same recording, but my curiosity was piqued. I’ll do a head to head in a few days and will see what I hear!

I did see that there was talk of a repress, so fingers crossed. Its a great album but certainly not worth the silly resale prices.

I played this last week without realising that it was John Surman's 76th birthday yesterday! So belated happy birthday to him!

140 - Steely Dan - Pretzel Logic

142 - Steely Dan - The Royal Scam
143 - Steely Dan - Aja

This one also threw me for a loop as I really dug Pretzel Logic this time around. The changes in the sound hit that groove a bit better for my tastes and I was sad when it was over. Katy Lied acquitted itself a bit more as well. Aja is what got me down this Steely Dan rabbit hole in the first place and I think it sounds a good deal better pressing wise than the rest of the discography. Royal Scam, eh, maybe not so much there for me, it falls on the wrong side of cheesy at times. One more Steely Dan after this and then I get to clean up a bunch more non Lieutanent Steely Dan items
