Sonny Rollins - Way Out West (Contemporary Records, 1958 First UK Mono Pressing)
Im following @CrazyDiamond84 with some Sonny Rollins. Its going to be his 91st birthday tomorrow (Rollins, not CrazyDiamond84....unless there is one hell of a coincidence) so seems like a good time to be listening.
These two are a good gateway if you’re not a pop fan because of the whole association with The National and the sound being still pop but with a more indie-folk tone. They’re also just two good albums, particularly Folklore. In terms of just pure quality 1989, which is a straight pop album, is the most consistent and also the best for me.

Sister Rosetta Tharpe - I Can't Sit Down
Another great Japanese pressing with When The Levee Breaks sounding particularly fine, and a wonderful Sister Rosetta 10". Still want to find O Little Town Of Bethlehem by her as that's what I heard as a kid.
