What's Spinning

#2056-2065

Oasis - The Masterplan
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory
Joe Henderson feat Alice Coltrane - The Elements
Lucy Dacus - 2019
Abel Lima - Goenta Candela
Dan Penn - Do Right Man
Segun Bucknor - Who Say I Tire
June Tabor and the Oysterband - Freedom and Rain
Verckys et l'orchestre Vévé - Congolese Funk, Afrobeat & Psychedelic Rumba
Elvin Jones - The Impulse Years

Almost caught up so can get back to more manageable posts. One of my very favourite soul albums (Dan Penn), jazz too (The Elements), folk (June Tabor) and possibly my favourite Oasis album too (although they left off some of my favourite b-sides and I have to sell this 10" boxset as I'm far too lazy to swap the records this often). That said, the unexpected surprise of these records was when a 7" I didn't know I owned fell out of the Analog Africa Verckys compilation...

Cool Music For A Hot Night (Tempo Records, 1957 First Mono Pressing)

Here’s an interesting release. One of three compilations that Tempo Records released during their time. This release, Tap 10, was the 10th album release and collates music from the other 9 (plus EP releases), including the likes of Don Rendell, Tubby Hayes, Dizzy Reece, Victor Feldman, etc. As with the majority of Tempo releases, this one rarely pops up nowadays and a reissue doesn’t seem likely as the label destroyed their tapes in the 70’s/80’s to make storage space.
