Tubby Hayes, Ralph Vaughan Williams, Gordon Jacob, Pamela Verrall, Ernst Toch - Farnham Festival 1969 (Erase, 1969 First Pressing)
A real rarity/oddity. In the 60's the creme of British jazz, including the likes of Tubby Hayes, Michael Garrick, Ian Carr, etc, used to volunteer or teach at local universities and colleges. Each year the musicians would select their star pupils to perform at the Farnham Festival alongside other teachers that taught classical music, poetry, etc. In 1969 the performances at the festival were recorded and a compilation was released in incredibly low numbers to be given to the friends and family of the pupils. There is even a note on the sleeve that said it wasn't for sale and strictly for the friends and family of the pupils only. The golden jewel of this series is the insanely rare "Michael Garrick - A Jazz Cantata: For Martin Luther King" which is actually a full-length album. Only a handful have ever sold with the last one being in 2020 for £1,156. Still, the one I am sharing here is an easier find and features Tubby Hayes leading a particularly great set of pupils.
