That's a fantastic 3-album combo right there!

Thank you for the story. I just learned of this album a couple years ago and I love it so much. Not to push you but the vinyl version sounds incredible. Lush and like a warm blanket.I've been holding off on getting this, it might be time. My dad bought this on CD when it came out -- the Buena Vista revival hit the Cuban diaspora hard when it came out in the early oughts. It hit the older generation as a nostalgia thing from their youth; I don't get that, but it reminds me of his joy and sadness listening to it. Nostalgia by proxy, I guess.
In fact, IIRC it was the first CD he bought (at my urging) via Amazon ("You can do that? Buy it on the web page and they just....send it to you?") -- it was their early days into selling non-book-stuff. I bought Skinny Puppy's Remix Dystemper and he got Omara and a Yo-yo Ma Bach thing. Back then you could pay by check, it just took forever (maybe you still can?). I remember when it showed up weeks later it seemed real flighty and kind of shady, like 'nah this'll never last long term, people like going to stores and holding stuff in their hands'.
Love this record! It was my first JSBX CD back in High School. I was able to find an OG Matador copy for under $20 just a few years ago. Now the one I hope for a reissue of is Acme. The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion "Now I Got Worry"

One of those albums I wish I had bought when it came out, fucking love this one! Last time I checked to see availably at my local they said it was OOP, not sure that's true but was a bummer! Saw it pop up on Amazon for cheap so I took a flyer, usually when that happens they eventually cancel because of lack of availability, not this time! Surprise, it showed up, eventually, this weekend so I'm hap-hap happy right about now...I have the blues and I'm about to explode...
