ennio morricone — quando l'amore è sensualita' (cam sugar, 2022)



HEAT! took a chance on this using some store credit i've got tucked away, and i'm definitely glad i did. (it really seems like morricone in the 60s and 70s is just a bottomless trove of genius so it's hard to go wrong, but you can't buy them all!)

this one's got it all — creepy giallo sing-song; impeccably arranged harpsichord lounge; monster fuzz guitar; some truly outlandish suites; unexpectedly, a rather credible engagement with minimalism. for the most part the pressing is very good, but it's either mastered a little too hot in spots, or my stylus is on its last legs (i hope not!! these things are expensive...).

definitely keeping my eye on future "morricone segreto" issues in the future...

@scotthilk have you checked these guys out? This is my first time listening, but Joe Bonamassa is the guitarist, and that part at least rips (still undecided on the vocals). Also, shockingly, this is on glow in the dark wax, but sound quality is perfect.

I have listened but only casually. I’ll revisit it!
