What's Spinning

hand delivered by the artist (along with a gorgeous, large poster for free!) this afternoon. a fantastic looking and sounding record. there's some sibilance here and there—endemic to the source material, i'm sure—but this pressing has a depth and an atmosphere entirely unlike the digital copies i've heard.

i think folks looking for poppier shoegaze might be turned off by this one, but as a lover of 90s guitar drone like A.M.P., flying saucer attack, rafael toral, and windy & carl, this is my zone.

I'll probably play some Twin Peaks stuff later today...but I really wanted to start with this one.

what's this one like? the cover makes me think this would sound swoony and delicate

I don't imagine you'd be too far off in your thinking, although I'm finding myself a bit hung up on swoony and now I feel I need to give it another listen with that adjective in mind. But I would definitely say there is a delicacy to the piano here for sure. I still need to spend some more time with this one, as I haven't fully fallen for it as heavily as his three previous albums.

Funk Inc. - Chicken Lickin'

@TenderLovingKiller® I think you recommended I check out this band a while back when I was looking for some more instrumental funk. I ordered this "new" from getimport on ebay and it showed up with a very rough and used looking jacket, but the vinyl looks brand new and it plays great which is what matters to me. Great recommendation, I'm loving it.
