What's Spinning

First one up in the new-to-me Nakamichi BX-100. I probably paid way too much...but I just wanted a reliable, good sounding deck to play some pre-recorded cassettes. I have no intention of making my own recordings, so a nice 3-Head deck would have been wasted on me.

This wasn't some bs "refurbished" ebay buy where they claim to replace a belt or 2...this guy did a lot to get this up and running.
He posted some pics on his Twitter - https://twitter.com/DecksDepot

He also double boxed and bubble wrapped the thing to survive any overworked postal employee.

Nice. I keep thinking that there is an opportunity for a company to start manufacturing new high quality cassette decks. Nakamichi decks were so out of my price range when they were being originally manufactured but highly desirable. Every now and then I drool over one of the rebuilds but the big $$$s on nice ones always snaps me out of it.

This was the most I could go while getting a decent, but low-end Nak. I spent the extra $$ to make sure it will last for years.

My previous Ebay "refurbished" deck lasted a few months before the shared motor in the duel well deck gave out. I paid about $80 for that one. I paid more for this, but it should last for a long time.

I could have gotten this model for a lot cheaper, but I knew it was going to be actually serviced by this seller, so I paid that premium.

And there should be some company that could make a better transport than what's out there. The current Tanashin mechanisms aren't great - but aren't that bad either - there's just a lot of clones out there that are REALLY BAD.

I think you'd have to see a company willing to make a better transport before any brands would really get back in the game.

Nice, that looks great! Yeah, my Onkyo TA-RW11 was a Reburbished eBay buy but I was very happy with it and it’s held up really well thus far, had it for a couple years so far.It came double boxed in it’s original box with an the original instruction manual.

My dog lived up to his name (Dexter) and murdered the shit out of a few jackets one day when he was a puppy but thankfully the vinyl itself was mostly unaffected and it kind of fits this record anyways as I just blame it on the dragon's clumsy laser eyes now 🫣

Reminds me of one of my favorite album covers of all time...

The Tubes - S/T
LP carnage via optical illusion. The record's good too..

I've heard a bit from The Tubes but never noticed that album cover before.. That illusion is flawlessly done though, that's a badass cover!

From a high character sleeve to straight generic!
