At the midway point in the stack...and I adore this record. As difficult to find on LP as it currently is, Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall's lone studio record predated a slightly melancholic, yet very accessible synthpop sound that would be an inspiration to pop tropes found today. Their gothic fashion shown on the album cover and in their scant live performances was prototypical to the iconic Harajuku (原宿) fashion scene in Japan.

Nearing the finish line of @Matt M's stack. Another self-titled record, with association from Japan conveniently enough. This band also released a lone avant-punk album, with this being in the late 70s. Most will be turned away from the first track alone; this is absolutely pots n' pans music. Lead lady Phew is still active in the underground music scene in Japan to this day. The post-punk fans might like "すべて売り物" (everything for sale) linked below.
