I guess pastoral, unfussy prog is just post-rock? Anyway, this fits the bill:

UK trio playing fairly anonymous (but supremely pleasant) instrumental post-rock that sounds a lot like the "Directions in Music" LP that came out on Thrill Jockey in 1996. I picked this up around when it came out and it certainly bears the traces of 25 years of relatively frequent listening. Still love this kind of stuff!

how *is* this? I haven't listened to it because nick drake is already perfect and I don't want to hear the songs ruined by people whose work I otherwise like
Nick Drake's versions are perfect, but rather than trying to imitate his songs they remake them in different ways. I think it's very well done in this way, at least it was for the first disk that I listened to today.
