love this record to bits (and i’ve never watched or read anything related to LOTR)
if all prog was this pastoral and unfussy, I’d feel much differently about the genre as a whole

I guess pastoral, unfussy prog is just post-rock? Anyway, this fits the bill:
state river widening - s/t (1999)
UK trio playing fairly anonymous (but supremely pleasant) instrumental post-rock that sounds a lot like the "Directions in Music" LP that came out on Thrill Jockey in 1996. I picked this up around when it came out and it certainly bears the traces of 25 years of relatively frequent listening. Still love this kind of stuff!

Nick Drake's versions are perfect, but rather than trying to imitate his songs they remake them in different ways. I think it's very well done in this way, at least it was for the first disk that I listened to today.
