What's Spinning

Flaming Lips ~ Soft Bulletin

This is my first vinyl version of this, but I have a few other versions. Most notably is the 5.1 Surround Sound version which initially shipped with the wrong CD. When this went out, they offered replacements for those people that got the 'original' version of the CD as opposed to the remastered version. Michael Ivins personally wrote apology letters for some/all? of the replacement CD's that were shipped out, I've included a pic of that below.

Along with all the other amazing things about this album, that sticks with me that they cared enough about their fans and their product to do that.

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!
#63: Miles Davis - Milestones

This may be a sacrilege to some, but this is my favorite 1st quintet album. Yes, I prefer it over KOB. The performances swing SO hard, Trane and Cannonball intertwine their playing beautifully, and the composition on the title track is just beautiful, and - pun intended- miles ahead of its time.

Cavallo “Interstices”. Always liked die-cut covers. Super nice cut cover designs on both front & back. May not show in pic but colored inner sleeve also has spot gloss applied. There is also a colored vinyl version. Pressing is good. Sound is fine but intentionally mixed with distortion. Music is good too. :-). Nicely done all around.
