What's Spinning

The Charlatans - Different Days

They never really fitted into the Britpop days but the Charlatans are my favourite band of that era. Each album is distinct and has a different style (perhaps a bit like Blur, but I just prefer the Charlies). For a few months, when I was 17-18, I wanted to be Tim Burgess. I don't *love* their most recent stuff like this but it's still pretty damn good.

I was probably too negative. I have both of them and definitely their best (I think) since Wonderland and before, even if not quite up to peak level. Always were such a great live band. Haven't seen them for a long while as they don't tend to come out here but have seen them 20+ times, almost all in the 90s, and some of my favourite gigs...

Got the CD player spinning this one....it's not on vinyl and what they have on the streaming sites is the new remaster / vocals re-recorded version.

Somewhere along the way the original vocals were "lost", so Dave Mustaine re-recorded them.

As you can guess...I like the original Lee Ving vocals - and have never liked Mustaine's singing (which is why I've never liked Megadeth, too)
