What's Spinning

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique

Checking out whether I need the new reissue, but I'm pretty happy with this. Sounds great even for a tightly-crammed single disc

I have to say - without a direct A/B comparison, the 2xLP is REALLY good. Yeah...you have to change the record, but they did a pretty nice job on it.

Pressed at Pallas - cut by Ian Sefchick at Capitol - who I have no issues with compared to his mentor Ron McMaster.

(I am mad about the Ill Communication, as it's just a repress

Francis Cabrel - Les Chemins de Traverse

Sacre bleu! This is great stuff. Francis Cabrel is a sort of French Bob Dylan and I fell hard for him when I was an undergraduate in Paris but with his more recent releases. Thanks to the generosity of @ChristoBee who bought this just to PIF it, I've been enjoying this mix of beautiful lyrics and funkier music than I expected, all from the year of my birth (1979). Really nice pressing too.

When I saw his on sale, I could not have left it in the store. I knew that, like @Skalap I needed to spread the word about our best folk singer.

This album is an interesting psychological test;

I have to say that I love it; sort of ZZ Top's Afterburner remade for 2019. What worries me is that I think I'd have bought anything with that album cover- the collected speeches of Bill Gates, The greatest Gregorian Chant album.... Ever!, an Ed Sheeran release, the possibilities are endless and horrifying. Just as well I've not admitted this in publi....

Shit.

Don't forget to watch the weird Netflix video/experience with it later! I personally didn't care for this album overall, but I do like the big shift and general new adventurous direction for Sturgill. I hope he irons out some of the kinks and his next album is a true career defining piece.

Is that P10 living up to the usual new Rega hype? Paired with the Apheta 3 maybe? Probably working well with your Rega phonostage - assuming that's still in the mix.
