What's Spinning

Great album...if only they could remove Future's parts in "Holy Terrain" it would be even better - man I can not stand auto-tune, at least to the extent that they use it for him....but mostly all auto-tune...if I can hear it, I hate it.

I totally agree, I just can't find many spots where it draws me in. Especially when an artist has a great voice and they find the need to alter it.

Shoes cranked out some of the finest power pop known to man. Unfortunately, most of those folks were around their Zion, IL home and they never quite took off on a large scale even though they deserved to.

Guessing @AnthonyI knows these guys.

I recently picked up all the Numero reissues from them. Only have played their first album so far...maybe I'll try to get to another tonight.

Numero didn't reissue this one, so I just got on Discogs and ordered an OP

Working on a backlog of releases I got in the mail this week, tho.

Fell down an odd rabbit hole last week when I was playing the Lee Ving country album "Range War"...and then with all the Fiona Apple stuff happening it seemed to be an odd coincidence.

They cover the Lee Ving/Range War song "The King Of The 12 Ounce Bottles" - it also has Fiona Apple singing on a couple tracks.

Pressed at Gotta Groove Records (probably - that's where the download card is from)

What a great album that is! My favourite from The Pogues. They’re still rough enough around the edges and I think MacGowan’s song writing here, particularly with the lyrics, is exceptional.
This was a gift from a friend a couple years ago, and the only Pogues album I'm really familiar with at all, but I'm looking forward to checking out some others. Recommendation for the next?

The one that follows it “If I Should Fall From Grace With God” is the other one of a similar quality and it has Fairytale of New York on it. Their debut “Red Roses For Me” is worth a check out too.

The agutierrezb 2019 record collection challenge

So I've decided to embark on my own personal challenge, which consists of listening every record in my collection before the end of the year. My record collection is not that big -only ~250-, but I still feel like there are a bunch of records I don't give enough attention to, while still adding more titles to my shelves.

For this reason I've set a couple of rules in order to play every record at least once before December 31st: I'll play at least one record a day, going from front to back in the way I have them sorted in my shelf. I can play a different record (i.e. Not the next one in alphabetical order) if I feel like listening to something else in any given moment, but at least one of the records I spin in the day has to be the LP in turn.

I didn't take pictures for the first two days, but I'll try to document the process from here on, so I'll be posting daily on this thread. Wish me luck!

I found about this record back when it was released via a music blog I used to visit in look for music recomendations. At the time I didn't really LIKE it, I just listened to it because it was "out there", and I thought that was a signal of good music. I've grown to enjoy it over time, and to consider it one of the most original artistic statements of the decade for its blend of experimentation and accesibility and fusion of a myriad of genres and influences.
