Wildflower - Season 2 (Ill Considered Music, 2019 White Label Early Release, no. 121/300)
Hells bells this is good stuff. I listened to their first album the other day and forgot how great of a group these guys are. This album seems more stripped back that the others, but in a good way. The drums (Tom Skinner from Sons of Kemet) especially sound a lot more raw. Superb stuff, looking forward to seeing them live in the new year!
The Charles Mingus Quintet – Mingus In Europe Volume 1 (Enja, 1979 first pressing)
The last time Eric Dolphy would perform with the Charles Mingus quintet. He decided to stay in Paris and live there after this tour but just 3 weeks later fell into a diabetic coma. The doctors assumed he was a druggie coming down from a high and left him. He ended up needlessly dying when a shit of insulin would have saved him.
I think I must have purged most of my Savoy Brown before a move - I'm down to one album and I didn't even have it in my Discogs collection for some reason.
Fantastic Negrito - The Last Days of Oakland. Saw him open for Sturgill a year or two ago. What a performance. Funky, bluesy, soulful and commanded the stage. Happy to pick this up cheap. Great cover artwork too.
