What's Spinning

My girlfriend chose the record to play now and went for the biggest boxset tucked away in the corner with a stack of other records in front
Great choice though.

Just curious how you do things, do you leave all the albums from a Boxset like this in the box or do you pull the individual album/jackets out of the box and store them separately? I used to keep everything in the box but found that it actually deters me from listening to the album in a lot of cases because I am lazy and don’t wanna fuck with pulling out and opening the box to get to the actual album. That being said I alway enjoy the extras that come with the box sets and if I separate the records from the sets I find myself neglecting the extras (which are usually a big part of why a purchased the box for to begin with).

I tend to keep everything in the box tbh. Looking at my shelf I have 14 box sets (they fill the bottom 2 cubes of a kallax unit). With box sets I usually dont get them out unless its the weekend. I know im not going to get through every record in one go but in the workday evening I never know how many im going to get around to listening to.

Saying that, im a sucker for all the extra bits that comes with records. I even cut around hype stickers and keep them in the outersleeve with the record :ROFLMAO:

On the other end of the spectrum im pretty sure @NathanRicaud goes full Marie Kondo and strips boxsets down to the records.

LOL! I have an old ammo box currently full of cut out hype stickers. The thought being one day I am going to go at em with a hair dryer, peel them off the plastic and hopefully cleanly reapply them to some outter sleeves. We will see if I actually ever do it though.

We all strive to the level of @NathanRicaud Marie Kondo'ing.
I never listen to my boxsets... I've actually sold boxset versions of my album just to get the regular because I realize that I never listen to it...

Argh no! Never! If I start stripping my records and throwing posters boxes and extras in the bin I hope someone slaps me! Never mind his propensity to actually throw records themselves in the bin too...

I’d definitely never finish if I started in on cds and the Tetrabytes of digital music I own.

I bought a box of those jazz loft poly cd sleeves so I could get rid of horrible jewel cases, keep all the artwork, and save some space! I’ve cleared our quite a few CDs whilst doing it. I think I have about 600 CDs now to sell and a remaining 700ish in my collection which puts my records and CDs at about the same number! Did you tell me you had about 5k CDs?

Yup.

When I first bought I had a lodger so my stereo/CD collection was in my room. The stereo moved out and the vinyl collection grew in the living room but the CD collection still resides in my bedroom, I need to move to somewhere bigger...
