Collection A-Z: Number 2

The 1975

This should have been number 1, but I forgot about numbered artists! Their first two albums are greet pop records, I’ll be interest to give their 3rd another go soon because I remember I wasn’t as convinced!

Judas Priest - Firepower (2018)

I don't make decade end lists. But no classic metal band released an album anywhere near as solid and powerful as Judas Priest did with Firepower. An incredible, riveting album from front to back. Truly, this record is up there with the greats, such as Sad Wings of Destiny and British Steel. Also, this fucking album cover? BAD. ASS. 🤘🤘

Record #1 Zeta ~ Mochima

IMG_20200104_170504.jpg

Zeta is an experimental, post-hardcore, chaotic hardcore group that comes from Venezuela and create sounds that make you sit up and think I don't know what the hell is going on but this sure is beautiful. In many ways a more accessible At The Drive In. Mochima is their latest LP consisting of 14 songs that range from experimental instrumental, psychedelic and post-hardcore. In my opinion this is one of their most complete works to date. This pressing is by Death Protector and is limited to 500 copies.

I want this
🤤
Il let you into a secret which still baffles me to this day. I've seen several copies of Rihanna's 'Anti' goes for £90 on discogs. I bought this 8 album box set, which also includes a slipmat and really high quality book AND includes the same copy of anti......for £90.

Even now the box set can still be easily found online for around the £150. Cant understand the logic of 'Anti' being that much but still....

I bought a box of those jazz loft poly cd sleeves so I could get rid of horrible jewel cases, keep all the artwork, and save some space! I’ve cleared our quite a few CDs whilst doing it. I think I have about 600 CDs now to sell and a remaining 700ish in my collection which puts my records and CDs at about the same number! Did you tell me you had about 5k CDs?
@Lee Newman +1 for the Jazz Loft sleeves. Saves a hell of a lot of space.

Styx - The Mission (2017)

This album is proof of one thing: Styx can still make a solid album, but only by ripping off original singer Dennis DeYoung's best works with the band. I saw Dennis DeYoung 2 months ago, and I'll say this. If you want to see the real Styx experience in concert, go see him and not this current lineup of "Styx". Still a solid album, but man, they're severely lacking in the creative department without DeYoung.
