What's Spinning

The soul jazz sub-genre has taken some time to get accustomed to, and I'm still yet to be fully on board with it. Certainly relaxing on a day off. These reissues by Blue Note continue to be stellar, even if I might not enjoy all of their selections. I'm recognizing a lot of samples taken from this record!

Pale Saints - The Comforts of Madness

Terrific sounding anniversary reissue of this classic Shoegaze / Dream-Pop album.

Slow Mass - On Watch

Holy cow I was very surprised by this album. Gives me some emotional feels. Takes me back to high school when I first heard Diary by Sunny Day Real Estate...

Was my #1 of last year for a while, until I decided to be more adventurous with my tastes. It has since fallen drastically, but I still enjoy its slow-burning cuts. Shame that this sounds flat and lifeless on vinyl.

Day 4 - It’s Icy out

DJ Kicks - Peggy Gou (2019 on !K7 Records - Limited to 100 copies)

The 'Enhanced Limited Edition' copy of Peggy Gou's DJ Kicks. 2LP gatefold is signed by Peggy, and includes a polaroid collage and a lenticular postcard (the album cover with/without the tiger). I picked this up without realising just how limited it was, and the price has rocketed on ebay/discogs (one went for around £100 which is insane).

My favorite mathcore group, and an outlier of my collection. I don't get to spin this often due to its frenetic style and how it is best enjoyed with volume near maxed.
