What's Spinning

My collection #237-238

Pastor TL Barrett - Do Not Pass Me By
Richard & Linda Thompson - Hokey Pokey

Do Not Pass Me By is just as good, to my ears, as Like A Ship - first-rate gospel funk. Hokey pokey isn't my favourite album of the Thompsons but it always reminds me of the Cornish ice cream (hokey pokey means honeycomb down there).

Queen ‎– At The Beeb (Band Of Joy, 1989 First Pressing)

Throwing an oddity into the Queen mix. Recorded live for the BBC on the 5th February 1973 and 3rd December 1973, the tracks are all different cuts to the album versions, with some killer guitar solo's from Brian May. Killer stuff.

My collection #239-242

Alemayehu Eshete - Enkoy Nat Yabay Dar
Mulatu Astatke / Teshome Meteku - Assiyo Bellema / Hasabe
Orchestre Poly-Rythmo - Allagbe Gbeto
Orchestre Poly-Rythmo - Noubi Le Wede

Two great Ethiopian singles (including one in psychedelic colours from the 1970s, and another with the original version of Ayalew Mesfin's Hasabe), and two from Poly-Rythmo (including from the most obscure label I've found, which only seemed to have two releases ever, and one with a cover, which is always great).
