Wilco (The Thread)

Did you get decent seats?
Took me forever to get something not in the nosebleeds today.
Yes - it took me the better part of an hour, but I eventually got two in the front row of the first mezz, then hung in there and got two more in the front orchestra (11th row) on the Nels side. I remember going through pretty much the same thing for the Tweedy solo shows at the Beacon (although I didn't end up going to that one). It's a crazy system, and while it's frustrating in the moment I probably end up with better outcomes than the old "best available" method. But that's also because it's a presale so I don't feel like I need to settle - if I didn't get seats I liked today I'd take another shot on Friday.

yankee hotel foxtrot > summerteeth > being there > a ghost is born > the whole love > star wars > am > sky blue sky > schmilco > wilco (the album)

I tried for those 1st Row Mezz seats too. Thought I was done with 30th row Orch, but got lucky with 14th Row on Stirratt’s side. I was ready to give up after 30min, but am glad I hung in there.

Pre-sale is on for Tomorrow at 10 am EST (that is my "Local time" and the notice says Local Time for each venue.)
I'll give you a clue for the password: It's the best song on A.M.

Edit: It's "CasinoQueen"

Thanks for posting the password! I completely forgot that presale was happening today. Secured tickets for Houston!

I have yet to see Wilco in concert but I have seen Nels Cline and I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys jazz or avant-garde music. The man is an incredible guitarist.
he’s....superhuman. i truly do not care about jazz or individualized guitar solo kind of shit at all, but his solo playing puts me in a trance. i practically hold my breath every time i see them live and impossible germany starts

i’m from chicago, wilco is my mom’s absolute favorite band (very high up there for me too), and i’m a good kid. we’ve seen them...a lot. probably rounding the horn on 20? and jeff solo a lot outside of that. even prior to his solo albums, he plays acoustic benefit shows in town at least once a year that are always very enjoyable. incredibly talented dudes. if anyone is in here that is not a big wilco fan, see ‘me live if you run into a chance. everything clicks.

Wilco are one of my all time faves. Have all their albums on vinyl and first saw a Wilco incarnation live in 1998! That was showcase with Jeff and Jay in a small rock club here in Oslo where they played stripped down versions from Summerteeth. I won tickets on the radio and it was an amazing night! First full band concert was at Roskilde Festival the year after if I remember correctly. Have seen Jeff solo and Wilco around ten times after that. Next one is with my wife in September. Can't wait, always a treat with a Wilco show!

I've seen Wilco 4 times. The first was before I knew who they were, they played before Morphine on the HORDE Tour (1995, has to look it up) so I just caught the end of their set. I saw them in Detroit at a free festival called Tastefest in 2003, not a great set at all, Tweedy seemed to be in kind of bad shape. I saw them a year later at Bonnaroo 2004 and it was a fantastic show...my favorite of the four shows. The last time was at The Fox in Detroit, I don't remember the year but while it was really good, the 'Roo show remains toppers for me. This is making me realize it's probably been a decade since I've seen them.

I'd love to go to the Mexico show but it's just not in the budget...but what a lineup.

I've seen them at least that many. I scored Front Row at the Orpheum in Boston way back in early 2000's. It was a great show, but you'd be surprised how much you miss when you sit 1st row at a theater show.

I feel like I need to make it to Solid Sound before traveling out of the Country for a show.

For those who missed it on Record Store Day, Tweedy's 'Warmer' is being bundled with 'Warm' for a 2-LP set. Not a perfect solution if like me you already have a copy of 'Warm' (look for mine over in the PIF thread, early July), but there are a few positives:

"The album packaging features a gatefold LP bound like an art book in a linen fabric with metallic embossing, tipped on images and a full book of lyrics, photos and liner notes by George Saunders. WARM / WARMER (dBpm Records) features 22 songs by Jeff Tweedy, including the never before released bonus track, "Drawing From Memory (Charlie)"."

It will also be for sale at Solid Sound Festival, and I plan on picking up a copy (and hopefully getting Jeff to sign it) there.

Wilco may be bringing the ("mid-tempo Rock") heat this tour:

good sets. pretty average set lists (as in nothing stuck out as being particularly WOAH for me upon reading. i appreciate their readiness to lean on their entire catalog and not just play like the most recent albums and heavy metal drummer). i will say they got robbed out of hoodoo bc that’s fun as hell live

Despite the awful ticketmaster fees, snagged 2 tix to see Wilco at Radio City in the fall. Really amped. Haven't seen them live in probably 10 years or so.
