Wilco (The Thread)

Uhhhhh against better judgement I went all out on this one and got the giant excessive expensive box set. I feel it’ll be a great thing to own. I mean for what it is, the price isn’t completely insane. I’ve seen worse lately.

I have an original european press..sounds great too. Interested in hearing this remaster but seems redundant.

I think the 11LP is too much. Intrigued by the 7LP but it also seems like something I might not reach for often. Unsure what to do..

wish they would release some of the bonus material individually.

"North America" store only ships to the US. Anyone seen preorders for this elsewhere? Doesn't seem like it's limited so I'm not too worried.

Also all that merch is...pretty bad.

Not sure about the radio performance and stuff but there are a good amount of demos circulating the internet that are fairly easy to find.

when i go to the wilco europe store, i get a pop-up that says "wilco ships to canada" (since the recognize my IP) and i can click it to redirect to what looks like the north american store.

edit: i can check out all the way with a canadian address.
try this link and wait for the pop-up: Wilco | Official European Webstore

Saw that, thanks! Like $40 shipping from Europe though, so I'll probably see what else pops up.

Will the full super deluxe version be on streaming? If so, that may play a major factor in my canceling the order and opting for one of the other sets...

pre-ordered in a rush of excitement, but realistically thinking maybe I jumped the gun a bit? hah

Not sure. I believe the deluxe versions of the first four albums are all on streaming, though the streaming/CD versions have different live shows included than the vinyl. Don't think that's the case here.

If you have a good friend that buys the Super Deluxe:

(from the Super Deluxe order page) "Full album link will be emailed on release day."

I think I'll end up getting the 7LP version. But does anyone else think it was a lost opportunity to not pick a live show after 2004, or even to have chosen one of the current anniversary shows from NYC or Chicago? In my humble opinion, once Nels Cline joined the band all of the YHF songs became even better.

There is a ton of good Nels shows on Nugs.net. The archive starts in 1996 and goes through the present.

While I agree with you - it also means the omission of another rendition of "Impossible Germany" --- & I am ok with that.

Why would you include a show from a lineup that didn’t make the album? I think that era of 02 where the show is from is really interesting as it’s primarily a 4 piece, post Jay being booted with Mikael not quite a member yet (a played mostly off stage from what I recall). It’s a pretty unique sound all things considered, especially considering the juxtaposition of how sparse the lineup is and how “big” the YHF material sounds.

Wilco - United Palace Theater - 4.19.22

Unlike any Wilco show I've ever seen.
It was like they were re-recording YHF only live.
It was a live note for note/sound for sound recreation of the album.

Also - the addition of the string section and horns was a revelation.
It allowed them to flesh out some deep deep cuts.

Reservations was perfect.
The entire theater was dead silent until the last note totally faded out.
Fucking epic.

Then the encore leading off with Be Not So Fearful (one of my all times and I had never seen it live) - just killed and was followed by Pieholden Suite and Magazine Called Sunset (of which the horns and strings really made this one sing).

Then they blew the doors off the place with the double barrel of I Got You and and Outtasite.

Its in the list of my top five shows for sure.
This calls for a special PIF. (Check the thread)
