I will listen just for Hope.
So...I just looked over this whole thread and I'm shocked, shocked, mind you, that one of the best records of the year didn't get one mention by anyone. And it's not even the usual weird stuff that only I like.
Did everyone just miss Mercury Rev - Bobbie Gentry's The Delta Sweete Revisited? It must have flown under your radar.
It's performed and arranged by Mercury Rev with a different guest female vocalist on each track. It's gorgeous.
Off the top of my head I can think of @Teeeee @Kris @Lee Newman @mcherry @gaporter @GritNGlitter @nolady @tvham @Aron @Twentytwo and a whole bunch of other people I'm forgetting that would probably dig this.
Just don't want to see anyone miss out...

@Woob_woob I edited my last choice to remove Tree and add Jamila. Needed some female representatiin on my list and that album isBeen mostly in underground hip hop mode this year but there were some other albums that grabbed me too. This is just a handful of the albums I thought were great this year.
Mavi - Let the Sun Talk -20
Charley Crockett - The Valley - 20
Billy Woods & Kenny Segal - Hiding Places - 15
Cykada - Cykada - 15
Flying Lotus - Flamagra - 10
Theon Cross - Fyah - 10
Jamila Woods - LEGACY! LEGACY! - 10

This post made me revisit that Metronomy album and I'll be damned if it isn't the perfect soundtrack to my "I was just off work for 2.5 days and don't want to be here for one weird day before the weekend" vibe that I'm rocking at the office today. I grossly overlooked this one this year. So, thanks for this! And on a more deep/meta note, it's things like this that aid me in curating music SO MUCH MORE than some hype-driven, endlessly disappointing in one way or another vinyl subscription service that I won't bother naming. My 2019 List:
Neil Francis "Changes" - 20
Fontaines D.C. "Dogrel" - 15
Paul Cauthen "Room 41" - 10
