Ouch poor Leeds! You can’t help but feel that with Cooper, Philips and Bamford fit that they’d be better but theyre leaking like a sieve right now. Great goal by Kane, pinpoint ball and you can’t overstate just how good a finish that was.

The likelihood would have been more that they’d have given a temporary board control with club funds in an escrow but this definitely does look like it’s heading that off at the pass. Given the amount of money Usmanov has in Everton this might still happen to them.

It’s no one’s to win or lose this early in the year but we needed a win today, have a rough month ahead.

I said it in the summer, Arsenal bought really well this year, even Ramsdale who I thought was shit has proven me wrong. Added to that Areteta is decisive and that’s such a good trait in a manager. He might not always be right but there are no lingering soap operas at Arsenal right now.

What's FIFA going to do now that both Poland and Sweden refuse to play Russia, either in St Petersburg or not, for the WC qualifiers?

Would be stupid if they allowed Russia to qualify due to forfeit.

Should they put their big boy pants on and just disqualify Russia from the WC?

I say all this but I'm not clear what the political implications are.

It’s hard to know. They should have disqualified them on Thursday if we’re all being honest. FIFA is notoriously corrupt and loves dirty money. The base of power there is now the Middle East and there are obvious alliances there with OPEC. I’d like to say they will disqualify them but it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they took these statements as forfeits.
