It Could Get A Bit Messi In Here - The Football Thread.

It feels like there's way more awful teams this season than in previous seasons. Relegation battle should be exciting.

Yeah start at 4th and from there down…

😂😂😂

It seems like Burnley and Newcastle have hit form at just the wrong time for the likes of Leeds and Everton too, it’s going to be an really tense end to the year down there.

I typically never try to wish relegation on a team or fandom as that's really got to be so deflating and I've seen teams just continue their downfall after relegation like Wigan and Sunderland. That said, I'm disappointed Newcastle seems to be getting out of the relegation zone. I thought it would be funny if the Saudi state had to watch a full season of the Championship.

I'm afraid Antonio Conte will leave us 😭
I’m torn.

If Conte leaves at the first sign of struggle then so be it. He doesn’t want to bother sinking further down and would rather go to Real Madrid, Man United, or back to Juve where they’ll build a squad of his liking and do well. It reminds me of José or even Pep, they need the best players in the world to win anything. You could stick Steve Bruce (absolutely no disrespect) in front of Man City and they’d do alright. I don’t know if it’s good to have a manager who’s so melodramatic and up and down after every result. It’s not good for the fans or players to have it swing so sharply in both directions. I mean Conte and everyone were celebrating, saying they love it at Spurs, etc. There were some light rumors again about Conte staying and Kane signing a new deal only 4 days ago. It’s night and day. Conte would be really unprofessional leaving another job without even trying to right the ship. I would be weary if I were one of those future clubs knowing you may lose a few games and he could be gone. He needs to get a grip.

On the other hand Conte is a very good manager who wasn’t really backed well for his system. No backup striker, no RWB, no LCB. The board failed to bring in what he needed so he’s probably frustrated. However, losing 4 out of 5 doesn’t reflect well on Conte or the squad. If it was Nuno or José we’d be calling for the sack. The last time Tottenham won a league game without a game winning goal in stoppage time was December 26th against Crystal Palace. It’s bad.

Levy will meet with Conte, he’ll smooth it over, hopefully, and a win at Leeds over the weekend will make it all forgotten. Levy cannot let Conte walk otherwise fans will be after his and ENIC’s head.

You signed a political coach. It’s who he is. The man is an exceptional coach but he stirs things up and he plays the supporters off the board to get what he wants. He’s quite similar to Benitez in that way. It’s why I didn’t want him at united, we don’t need more chaos, as brilliant as he undoubtedly is.

I still think what you really are missing more than anything else is a dominant centre half. A real leader in the middle of the three. I actually quite like some of the options in the left and right side of the three but no one stands out to me as “the man”. In a Conte team a better right wing back for sure too and probably a left wing back in the summer too as it looks like Regilon could be heading back to Madrid.

Were yesterday’s Champions League matches not knock out?

I don’t like Paramount’s condensed replay options. I want to watch the entire match.

I think I finally have this offsides thing figured out!

You can easily see who Captained or Triple Captained Salah. I didn’t do that because I thought my differentials would pay off and didn’t want to take a -12 to bring Salah back in. 😿

I wish I could have tripled but I used free hit to get him back in without penalty! I’m guessing if that arsenal goal is an own goal that I’ve dropped back a little bit though. Tempted to ship points to do a rebuilt for this weekend…
