Well yes but given UEFA and particular FIFA’s cozying up with Russia, Russian sponsorship and, in particular, Putin they should have been leading on this. Infantino’s sycophantic behaviour towards Putin is yet another stain on reputation of both him and FIFA. It looks like the IOC backed them into a corner on this today rather than it came from within as any real criticism of Russia or it’s leadership.
