Literally anyone but the Caps plz. Please let it be the Avs
The Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, and Washington Capitals are all potential destinations for pending unrestricted free-agent goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, reports TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
Fleury could also stay with the Minnesota Wild, who are reportedly still hoping to re-sign him. The Wild, though, are facing a significant cap crunch thanks to the buyouts of Ryan Suter and Zach Parise, so they only have $4.9 million in projected cap space.
A reunion with the Pittsburgh Penguins is "perhaps" a possibility, LeBrun adds. However, Pittsburgh just re-signed backup netminder Casey DeSmith, and starter Tristan Jarry remains signed for another year.
The Avalanche are reportedly trying to bring back Darcy Kuemper, so Fleury would serve as a fallback option for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Toronto is in need of a starter with Jack Campbell expected to depart as a UFA. Petr Mrazek is still in the fold, but the Maple Leafs may try and move him and his $3.8-million cap hit after a disastrous first year. They currently have just $6.4 million in cap space with a few RFAs needing new deals.
The Capitals - Fleury's longtime rivals during his 13 years in Pittsburgh - had the unproven duo of Ilya Samsonov and Vitek Vanecek share the crease with mixed results last season, but both goaltenders are pending RFAs.
Fleury will turn 38 in November, but he's coming off a respectable campaign in which he posted a .908 save percentage and 2.1 goals saved above average in 56 appearances split between the Wild and Chicago Blackhawks. The future Hall of Famer is also only one year removed from winning the Vezina Trophy.
I’m honestly surprised Avs are risking Kuemper, not an area they are particularly weak but interesting choice. Oilers should be making some calls!TRADE ALERT
The New York Rangers have traded goaltender Alexandar Georgiev to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a pair of third-round picks and a fifth-rounder, the team announced.
Georgiev posted a career-worst .898 save percentage in 33 games with the Rangers last season while backing up Vezina Trophy winner Igor Shesterkin. The 26-year-old owns a .908 save percentage in 129 appearances over his five-year career.
Darcy Kuemper, who helped lead the Avalanche to the 2022 Stanley Cup, will now test free agency, as the club didn't have the cap space to keep him, according to TSN's Darren Dreger.
Colorado now expects Georgiev to share the crease with Pavel Francouz next season.
I think this means that they'll be able to resign Malkin at a reasonable AAV.What’s this mean for Malkin? 6 yrs is nuts, but good for both parties

As for Fluery…LETS GO CAPS!!![]()
Nightmather gonna need some new jammies to match.
That LeTang deal is front-loaded too - 8/8/6.2/4.8/4.8/4.8, which will help down the line.I think this means that they'll be able to resign Malkin at a reasonable AAV.
I get that he was injured a lot last season but he's a decent backup, and at 1.8 AAV it's a steal of a deal imho!
We’re gonna try playing without a tendie this season. MOAR FORWARDS. ALL THE FORWARDS.Back to back season ending core injuries.
He didn’t deserve a raise.
I was really hoping the Pens could bring him back. I guess as long as it’s not to theUncle Bobby says MIN is the front runner to pick up Flower on a two-year.
I’m hoping cbj pick up the next “great one” instead at pick 6Hawks got robbed. Debrinecat is a stud. Then again that number 7th pick will probably turn out to be the next Wayne Gretzky knowing Chicago's fortune.
