    @bettim84 The Defense Travel System has the best hold music. I was on hold with the for a couple hours once and got to hear Danny Elfman's The Batman Theme like a dozen times. When they finally picked up and asked with whom they are speaking I really wanted to say "I'm Batman". Also @Aron you have the patience of a saint

    My guess is they only have one rep. The idea that I was sitting on hold the entire time said rep was out to lunch makes me pretty livid. I'm off today for Columbus Day, which I wouldn't normally take off. I'm house/dog-sitting for them. Just don't want to have to take a day off tomorrow to wait around for a delivery because they couldn't tell me even what day they might show up.

    The cover art for Will Johnson’s “Wire Mountain” is a perfect match for the music on the album. Don’t sleep on this one. Great Fall/Winter record.

    I have to admit, I didn't think this cover was anything special initially. But everything shifted to another level following that famous drum break. At least for me.

    I mean the original does the same trick, where it is subdued, and then gets a bit more fiery after the drum break, but I think it is the way Lucy reads the lyrics in the early part of the song that makes the shift more of a Dorothy stepping into a technicolor Oz moment for me.

    @Teeeee Yeah. She's definitely older than us.... One of my longest friends was a huge No Doubt fan and he used to go see them perform at Disneyland back in the day before they ever made it big.... We were probably in high school, or maybe a little younger

    Chromatics are one of those groups that break zero new ground with their output, but that I still enjoy listening to. I guess most dream pop/rock and shoegazey type bands are like that for me. I've heard that sound many times before over the years, but it just always works for me.

    Really glad she's playing some of the older tunes too. Saw her on the tour for "Are We There", and she was incredible. I was disappointed she didn't play a regular show here either before or after the taping.

    Today is one of those days where I look out the window at work and it looks like it should be a windy day with temps in the upper 50s. Then you walk outside and it is just an overcast, humid ass day with temps in the low 90s. Cheers to anyone out there that is already experiencing Fall weather.

    A lot of good new releases today. Flying under the radar is the new one from Will Johnson, "Wire Mountain". Great Fall/Winter album. Great record to spin late at night, with perhaps an adult beverage or two. This will likely be the 3rd year in a row a Will Johnson related album is in my top 10.

    It's a quiet record. That first track is a good lead off track for sure. Very much in the same style as his last solo record from a few years back "Hatteras Night, A Good Luck Charm". I usually describe it as a high and lonesome sound. A little Neil Young guitar vibe in there on some of the louder songs.

    This new Sturgill Simpson record is so different, but I'm really enjoying it. Not an album that can easily be put into any kind of genre box, which is refreshing in the year 2019.

    Metamodern is the top for me still, but I really liked Sailor’s guide. I think it has a lot to do with the classic soul influence of that record.

    This album was made by the guy who was ripping guitar solos while guesting during Chris Stapleton's SNL performance. I had kind of a strange thought at one point though. You always hear the Waylon comparisons, but I heard a couple of moments on the new one where I thought, "He sounds a bit like young Elton John if he were born in Kentucky". Maybe it was just vocal inflections on one of the songs or something.

    I surprisingly have not bought this one yet. This comp screams "will be on sale for <$40 in the future" so I'm just waiting. I already have two copies of Don't Tell a Soul on LP so this would also seem like overkill as much as I love that album.

    I'm just listening to the stream on Spotify. About to hit the Waits material actually. Anxious to hear how the live material sounds.

    Well, after listening to them, I would say the Waits tracks are the thing I will probably return to least from this collection. Not great. Not even good to be honest. Everyone is so sloppy drunk that it isn't even charming. The full band version of 'We Know The Night' & 'Date to Church' are probably the best of the bunch. I could have gone the rest of my life without hearing that version of 'If Only You Were Lonely'.

    Man, the end of that episode of Ken Burns' Country Music documentary hit me hard. I remember when they filmed Willie's 60th Birthday show here in Austin. I wasn't there, but I watched the broadcast special. So much talent came to town for that celebration.

    Episode 7 ended off at 1983 so depending on how much into current times he went it could end up being like 35 years. I hope he covers 1986 it was a special year; debuts from Dwight Yokam, Steve Earle, Lyle Lovett and Randy Travis.

    I've heard it stops at 1996. Even if it is a longer episode like episode 7 was, that is still a long period of time to cover in a single episode.

    I was thrilled to see them cover Guy Clark, Townes and that group of Texas singer songwriters. Episode 7 was very Texas-centric.
