Singles from forthcoming Team Picture album are varied and super interesting. The latest "this is the" is now my favorite of the three. Highly rec checking them out.
Light New Release Friday for me, which is a great opportunity to do some catching up (I Break Horses, Perfume Genius, Sumney, more Lido Pimienta spins). That said, the new Nation of Language is excellent imo, and psyched about this surprise Owen Pallett release!
The packaging on Moses Sumney's græ is amazing. I don't know what one calls the clear art insert, but it's a really cool extra. Just about to spin now …
A surprise among this past Friday's releases was Eve Owen's album Don't Let the Ink Dry. Really beautiful album. I think I tossed it in a new music playlist after seeing someone list it in a some thread here on Friday. Thanks, whoever that was!
Just stumbled across the new album from BC Camplight "Shortly After Takeoff." Wow, this is a genre-bending experience. Already looking forward to listening again.
As many of you know, on Friday bandcamp is giving 100% of purchases to artists. What are you hoping to pick up, who are your trying to support? To the extent I can afford it, I'm gonna focus on artists I was planning on seeing live March-Summer, like:
I'm spinning Blur records. It's crazy to me how many sweet spots they hit. Alternative rock, indie, pop, grunge, electronic, whatever - they often shift genre from track to track within an album. What a band.
Excellent release today by the Icelandic band VAR called The Never-Ending Year out today. If you like Sigur Ros, Mew, and that vibe, you definitely need to check it out.
I can't believe this Fiona. Sitting here like a kid on Xmas morning listening at 4:50AM. I'm at Newspaper. I take a look and realize that Newspaper is only track 7 of 13. Double Xmas morning, just over halfway through!!! Insanely amazing.
Phew, it's a Friday morning and the releases I'm excited to check out are fewer in number than the last two Fridays, so I can hopefully catch up. Most excited to check out new Trace Mountains, Laura Marling and Hamilton Leithauser today.
New Washed Out track called Too Late dropped today. I will probably listen to it 20 times today. Feels like a return to Within and Without vibe. Please let this be a prelude to a new album!
I really don't know much about Prine but still feel the sadness of losing such an incredible man who has helped so many heal through music. If you're like me, and don't know much about him, I stumbled upon the first review ever written about him, which happened to be by Roger Ebert in 1970: John Prine: American Legend | Features | Roger Ebert
