  • You all probably know this by now, but if you plan on buying any records today, look on bandcamp first! Bandcamp is waiving their fees today for bands and they need your support now more than ever. Lots of great stuff out there.
Is it just me or have discogs prices gone through the roof on a lot of stuff lately? Was looking through my collection to see what to sell and there's a lot of stuff that used to be listed for $40 or $50 and is now listed at $100+...is it that more people are at home buying vinyl and more people are selling due to economic uncertainty?

@MikeH easiest solution is to just buy what you know you’ll enjoy. I’m not positive on the inner workings of cogs. If you don’t add tracking into the transaction comments then they don’t post it as a confirmed sale? I’d think they would, unless the sale is cx’d. But a seller can still make a “confirmed sale” never cancel it and never pay their monthly sellers bill.

@High Rant District has a great point here! Years ago I used to buy and sell comics as a hobby. This was before a lot of the films came out so I would speculate and buy first appearances. Anyway, I'm still a member of a lot of private Facebook groups and near every payday there will be a surge of posts saying "I have an extra £X to spend, what have you got".

Similar to sports cards/vinyl, the secondhand market for comic books is escalating in price. I guess with no new comics, and closed shops, everyone is sent online to spend that cash they typically have earmarked for weekly pickups.

I usually buy new, but try and pick up some key issues of Spider-Man and Daredevil once in a while. I know in the back of my head what certain issues go for, and they go up every week.
Anybody know anything about recapping KEF 101 speakers? I bought a KEF 101 capacitor kit from Falcon audio and now seems like they are the incorrect caps...if anybody has experience recapping speakers and wants to make some extra money by recapping them for me...let me know!
Shoutout to VMP for finally making me buy some Grateful Dead music, just not from them. I have an American Beauty MoFi and the Day of the Dead box set coming my way 😎
Anybody have any experience with Nautilus Recordings as a label? Curious about their Superdisc series...

Well now you’ve got me doubting my ears. Just listened to the candy on and it sounds better than my other copy. Drums are a little crisper but it’s nothing other worldly. I’m not sure how much more nautilus stuff goes for

@feesrevenge Depends on the title, but usually, a good bit more than the standard presses

Yea I’m eying a few titles...they don’t have the best selection (at least on discogs) and stuff like Rumours is way too expensive. Can’t see that being better than the 45RPM from Pallas. Some others have decent prices.
Saw a good deal on the Marvin Gaye One Step but got trigger shy...when I finally went to go for it, it was sold. Sigh...
Ended up grabbing Durand Jones’ first album which I didn’t own somehow on bandcamp along with a Paul Cherry record for the bandcamp deals today.
One of the weirdest projects I have probably ever worked on...but made this animated music vid for DJ Khaled to encourage kids to wash their hands for 20 seconds:
John Prine was the first concert I ever went to with my (now) fiancé. We tried to see him in concert after that any time he came to NY. And Prime Prine was the first record I ever bought her as a result of her introducing him to me properly. RIP John and thanks for the happy memories.
Thought I saw someone post an international postage calculator on here but can’t remember where it was...trying to figure out how much it costs to ship an LP from NY to Australia...
Anybody have experience in fixing up old jukeboxes or know where to find replacement parts?

Oh man, that is a beautiful cabinet! Ever thought of pulling out the guts and wiring in a a tablet or raspberry pi so you can run Spotify off it or stream via bluetooth? Might be a cool direction to take if its too worn out inside. Combine modern tech with retro looks!

Thanks! I think if I replace the speakers I would add some bluetooth capabilities/a raspberry pi with a Roon endpoint. I do still want it to play 45s and right now, the only thing that really doesn't work well is the volume and the speakers cut in/out. Think it needs some general cleaning/maintenance. But the selector works and it runs fairly smoothly otherwise!
Saw Durand Jones again tonight and reminded me that they are one of the best live bands touring right now.
New Thundercat album leaked onto Rough Trade this AM before being taken down. Amped for this one!
Any record store recs for the Dallas, TX area?
