Album of The Year - Endgame

First list! I had exactly 10 picks for albums that I knew from 1970.

1. Black Sabbath - Paranoid
2. David Bowie - The Man Who Sold the World
3. CCR - Cosmo's Factory
4. Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge over Trouble Water
5. Bob Dylan - New Morning
6. The Stooges - Fun House
7. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
8. The Beatles - Let it Be
9. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin III
10. MC5 - Back in the USA

  1. Derek and the Dominos - Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs
  2. Exuma - Exuma
  3. The Stooges - Fun House
  4. George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
  5. Simon and Garfunkel - Bridge over Troubled Water
  6. Led Zeppelin - III
  7. Miles Davis - Bitches Brew
  8. Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
  9. Nick Drake - Bryter Layter
  10. Black Sabbath - Paranoid
So many classics, the margins between the top half are razor thin

hey @Woob_woob, have you thought of something like a g-sheet that could be pinned at the top of the thread that summarises each n+g year by year in different tabs as they're determined?

i love this thread...

1970 was a brilliant year and will require further exploration, but my early tip will be fun house for top spot

Not a bad idea. I'm probably not running out to do this anytime soon, but maybe in time. Also I'll gladly link it if someone else wants to throw it together.

Why the hell will they not reissue this album?!?!
Good question. I have this box set that I thought includes Lola but it does not.

They should have included it because that’s really all you need for the Kinks.

Yeah. I waited for a long time to get that box because I could take or leave the first 3 albums and I already had that cut of Face to Face and the AAA reissue single of You Really Got Me. If the box was Face to Face through Muswell Hillbillies, it would have been a no brainier. So glad I got it anyway though.

A lot of great albums from 1970, but I managed to whittle my list down to 10:
  1. Elton John - Tumbleweed Connection
  2. CCR - Cosmo's Factory
  3. CSNY - Déjà Vu
  4. David Bowie - The Man Who Sold the World
  5. Curtis Mayfield - Curtis (forgot about this album when initially putting this list together because I’m a dumbass)
  6. John Lennon - Plastic Ono Band
  7. Simon & Garfunkel - Bridge Over Troubled Water
  8. George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
  9. Neil Young - After the Gold Rush
  10. Black Sabbath - Paranoid
...and here’s a Spotify playlist of Billboard’s 100 best-selling singles of that year.
