Bought this from Wooden Shoe Anarchist Book Store over the weekend. I bought a record from them before that I never heard of before and it turned into one of the coolest finds I got in a while so I needed to try again when I went in the city again!
I've heard of moor mother before but never listened to their music. But when I learned that they were a philly artist and its am afro futurists album it sounded like the perfect pick!
I almost played Empress Of because of the song "I Don't Even Smoke Weed," but I decided to go with some high-quality stoner rock (among a few other genres/styles mixed in there). Plus it's green for the holiday!
One of the greatest artists of all time (and, it goes without saying, one of my personal favs). I can’t believe it’s already been 5 years since he’s passed...

Prince and the Revolution - Purple Rain (12” Maxi Single)
I know I need to get some more Prince on vinyl. I only have Purple Rain, 1999, the somewhat recent Piano & A Microphone 1983, and record 1 of Sign "O" The Times. I also have The Hits / The B-Sides 3 cd set...but I need to get more of his albums.
This copy of Purple Rain I got back in my Carbondale, Illinois college days about 25-ish years ago. I like that it has the hype sticker and the poster is in great shape.

Play a Prince record (or a Prince-related record)
I thought I might have failed this challenge since I do not own any Price records, but there is a connection between these two artists. Others have made that connection, too. Plus, this just arrived, and is purple!
GAPorter used the only proper Prince record I have, so time to get a tiny bit creative. The number of active artists influenced by Prince probably cannot be counter due to the sheer volume that exists, but there's a handful who are both really influenced by him and who he took a shine to. He shares a feature on this particular record, had a substantial material influence on the follow up, and for my money she is the closest this generation has gotten to the ethos and spirit he put out...after all they both know how to Give 'Em What They Love.
