I’ll put it this way- I pulled my for sale ad for the Grados. No one should buy them with these available. But your Grados were your end-game cartridge a few weeks ago! I think you love the chase too much to ever stop completely.
Fine.
I caved.
Twice.
You happy?
Now who has a link for good mounting hardware...
yeah it was quite easy to set up. My one suggestion is to buy an official Fluance headshell. I tried using a generic/universal headshell (earlier for a secondary cart), and the threading didn't line up perfectly - when fully threaded on it didn't seem perfectly level to me.Well that's nice to hear. Was it an easy setup? Are they still available? I have the same system and wouldn't mind trying a change.
Cool, I’ll take a look when i get back home. Anything else needed?yeah it was quite easy to set up. My one suggestion is to buy an official Fluance headshell. Very easy setup. I mounted mine on a removable headshell that fits an old Akai direct drive turntable I pulled out of attic storage so I could test the cart to be sure both channels are working. Plugged the Akai into the phono input of a Pioneer SX-750 receiver I haven't powered up in many months, maybe years, and plugged in some headphones. Pulled the soundtrack to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid off a shelf in the basement and cued 'er up. Have to admit I was really surprised by how good it sounded given that I'd pretty much stacked the deck against the cartridge. And I know it's a high output MC cart, but I didn't expect it to be happy with a built-in vintage phono preamp that no doubt was designed for MM carts. So now I know it works, and I have to figure a way to work it into my main system.Well that's nice to hear. Was it an easy setup? Are they still available? @Matt M You’ll still want the stylus force gauge if you don’t have one because although the tracking force is the same between them, the 1000 is significantly lighter.Mounting hardware if you don't have any lying around
VTF gauge (although the Blue and the SAE have the same recommended tracking force)
Protractor - this cheapo mirror one works well for me, if you don't have one. It's extra easy on the SAE since there's a bold white line on the front of the cart you can line up perfectly in the mirror.

What is the recommended tracking force for these SAE carts?
1.8g +/- 0.3g
Got you too, huh.
It’s $100 off the current going rate. Good price, still, but it hasn’t been $999 for a long time. Not that I love TTL or am in the market for a new turntable but this seems like a crazy price.
