August 2020 Challenge Thread - The Dog Days of Vinyl Playing

Day 26: Dog Day - Play an album for the dogs.

This is “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” music (I mean that figuratively because as you can see the album cover is dope AF). When I initially heard Moondog’s story I thought, this guy’s a kook and his music is probably a lark or novelty type thing but I was very wrong. He is an Amazing artist and composer who thankfully did his own thing without regard for others perception which allowed us all regal in wonder at the Viking of 6th Avenue!

 
Day 26 - Dog day

One of the great underrated bands and LPs I know of. It’s the lame band name and baseball pun album titles, I think. This is an amazing record - Black Dog is one of better cuts.

Luna and Chewie having a nap the other day...

Chewie's 3 month birthday was yesterday. Luna is about 6 years old. (she's a corgi/goldendoodle, we had her DNA tested as she was supposed to be a goldendoodle/black lab mix when we got her as a puppy)

Don't think so. I think she is about 50% English Pointer and 50% Pit/lab, etc. mutt. She has the coloration, including on her skin, and the ears of a pointer, but is a little stockier and bigger. Her mom was described to me as a shorter/stockier brindle lab mutt, which is pretty common for a pit mix when they don't want to tell you it is a Pit. Not a lot of brindle labs! The listing when we went to check her out said bassett hound/lab mix, which we could tell was way off immediately!

She is a sweetie. She has been having a very hard week because it won't stop thundering every day!
 
Day 26: Dog Day - Play an album for the dogs.

So after I couldn't play LSD yesterday this is dropped on my doorstep. I am gifted with this beautiful dog-eat-dog theme.

This one works for a few reasons. The main one is that the lead single is still a jam and is Call Off Your Dogs. It's followed by Spectacular Failure, the continuation of the saga of that absolute dog Bobby Tanqueray. The other reason is that I am 95% sure Amazon let a dog or three play with this one before bringing it to my doorstep. It is one curvy frisbee with one bent cover that only a dog could love.

However, still plays like a champ.

Beautiful dog, great record! I have the gold/orange version. It's definitely the only set of demos I listen to on a regular basis but it's my favourite album of all time so I'm a bit biased.
 
Day 27 - Dog Daze

Well I was going to play Hop Along - Bark Your Head Off Dog, but I love this album cover. Sometimes I leave it out just to look at that good boy for a couple days.
