Gonna go with a personal favorite. This band actually broke up just before this LP, their last, hit the street. Bummer, man. It cooks...

Slint - Spiderland
Amazing how gifted these young men were. Making a record that featured fantastic, raw production; heart-wrenching screams, existential dread, social unease, and the fusion of math rock/post-rock. Perfect to listen on Halloween at dark, I would think (but haven't tried).

Steve Gunn - Other You
I delayed playing an album yesterday so I could play this, Steve Gunn’s latest. I ducked out of work early and headed to my local record store to pick it up. For those unfamiliar he is an amazing guitar player and would fit nicely next to War On Drugs and Kurt Vile (all three came up as part of the same Philly indie music scene). Great chill music that almost begs to be accompanied by some kind bud.

Going with a pretty direct influence on Noel Gallagher, with Paul Weller (The Jam)
The Jam - The Gift
I first got into The Jam hearing Town Called Malice on the radio and have loved the song and the band ever since. While The Gift is miles away from the mod/punk hybrid of In The City, Weller was definitely hitting his stride as a song writer and the band as performers. The story goes is that Weller had a lot of these songs and several of the early Style Council songs done in demo form, giving Buckner and Foxton the opportunity to pick which songs they wanted to record. Not sure how true it is, but this is a great album and laid the blueprint for the nauseating wave of Brit Pop some 15yrs later.
26th August - Sounds As Good As It Looks.
Share an album with great artwork.
Well...it may not be "great", but it's currently in the news.
While I probably wouldn't have put a naked baby on an album release, it certainly doesn't fit the definition of "Child Pornography" - and the "baby" has had multiple 15 minutes of fame over the years.

Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You
Unwound were never hugely popular but they were very influential in the indie/underground rock world, especially in the Pacific Northwest. Their final album Leaves Turn Inside You was their magnum opus.

Metallica - Master of Puppets
This would be the final album the band would record with bassist Cliff Burton. Cliff was tragically killed in a bus accident a few months after the albums release.

They toured for this album, then took a year+ off...then toured in 2015 and that was it.
I know they released "R40 Live" from the 2015 tour, but I don't count that.
Six months to the day after releasing this, their debut album, Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams each led their own line-ups for their scheduled gig at KOKO in London, "to ensure the experience of Yussef Kamaal," after having announced they would no longer perform together.

From the Wikipedia page:
"At the Newport Jazz Festival in 1955, Davis performed the song "'Round Midnight" as part of an all-star jam session, with the song's composer Thelonious Monk, along with Connie Kay and Percy Heath of the Modern Jazz Quartet, Zoot Sims, and Gerry Mulligan. Davis's solo received a positive reception from many jazz fans and critics.[3] His response to this performance was typically laconic: "What are they talking about? I just played the way I always play."[4]George Avakian of Columbia Records was in the audience, and his brother Aram persuaded him that he ought to sign Davis to the label.[5]
Davis signed with Columbia and formed his "first great quintet" with John Coltrane on saxophone. 'Round About Midnight was his first album for the label."

The Clash - The Clash (Cdn edition)
While there were many Rock Against Racism concerts, the April 1978 concert in Victoria Park, London is probably the most famous. The Clash were one of many acts performing to the crowd of about 100,000
