I chose this one because I basically repurchased it explicitly for the artwork. I had an older pressing that didn’t sound all that great and so when they released a deluxe remastered version I pounced but sadly the deluxe version had alternate (and IMO inferior) cover art. So when they repressed the remastered album as a standard edition I ended up purchasing It Still Moves a third (and hopefully final) time.

A point of reference for the uninitiated…

You can see why I preferred the original.

23rd August - Memorabilia Monday.

I'm not huge into memorabilia...and I think I've already used what I have for other similar themes...so I'm just going with a limited signed insert.

It's a pretty good doc, too.

24th August - That's Random.
Randomly select a record without looking and tell us a story about it.

The Discogs Enhancer Chrome extension adds a random button to all pages...not just on the dashboard. (it also has a fix for the main logo going to your dashboard and not the useless homepage)

Warfaring Strangers: Acid Nightmares (Numero Comp)

For those that remember velvet black light posters and doodle art, this album cover will definitely bring back memories/nightmares of themView attachment 110048

I am not big on comps and I’ve never listened to the music on this Numero group collection but I’ve almost purchased this album several times solely based on the cover art. If I was about $10 cheaper, I am sure it would be in my collection.

Day 26 - Sounds As Good As It Looks

Not that the artwork here is that cool (not even sure what I’m looking at here), but I always appreciate when they restore original cover art on reissues and generally seek those versions out. Except for Donuts - I definitely prefer the smile cover 😀

A supremely trippy jacket that uses matte/glossy color to create a sweet 3D effect (it does not translate accurately via camera) and a supremely trippy 20 minute title track to kick off the record...

I guess not technically my most recent purchase, as I pre-ordered it a while back, but most certainly most recent arrival, or one of. Street date: today.

As I've mentioned in a couple of other posts, I'm very seriously digging this album right now! It's currently one of my top 2 for August.

25th August - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.
The album was released on this day in 1998 and become the first hip-hop album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year. Play an album from an award-winning female musician.

"Originally called the Grammy Award for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female, the award was first presented to Donna Summer in 1980."

Dirty Three - Ocean Songs

Went record shopping yesterday, picked up two new and two used. This is the last item I grabbed to pay for at the owner's table.
This month's update for Fresh Grabs is going to be large again...
