Stone Temple Pilots - Purple (Super Deluxe)
STP does a great cover of Dancing Days that is included on the bonus rarities CD in the Super Deluxe set of Purple. So I played the album on wax and am listening to the bonus disc now.
“Son, she said, have I got a little story for you”
“Whispering hands gently lead him away”
“Call my name”
“Just like the day I heard”
“Jeremy spoke in class today.”
Listening is definitely a running theme through this album. Heck this version even comes with Redux which is an entire album remix.
9. Born Under a Bad Sign Conway Twitty – You've Never Been This Far Before / Baby's Gone
Another opportunity to spin something from the couple batches of free records I've acquired this month. Conway Twitty is "Born to Lose" on this one, which feels like it could be on par with, or a result of, being born under a bad sign.
One of the few Spanish-language albums in my collection and the only one entirely in that language afaik. At least I think it’s entirely in Spanish, idk…
I've always enjoyed Mathias Kom's outlook on dancing, from the song "Everybody Needs A Body (To Be Somebody)"
And I thought about how when I dance people often think I have some kind of rare syndrome or disease
So I don't dance too often but I'd like to dance as often as I pleased
I'm switching things up with the medium again and popping in the DVD that came with this set, which I haven't watched yet. I think I have about 40 Santana albums and I love the boots I've been grabbing from his jazz phase. But this one is more of the typical Santana sound.

12. Misunderstood Meshell Ndegeocello – Pour Une Âme Souveraine A Dedication To Nina Simone
My favourite deep dig score from my local back when I worked across the street and was in multiple times a week. This was buried away in an "old stock" box stashed beneath the CD bins next to the jazz section. Despite being a big fan of both Ndegeocello and Simone I was actually unaware of its existence, which made finding it feel extra special. I love this front to back and it opens with the finest non-Nina version of "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" I've yet heard.
