August '22 - N&G VINYL SPINS CHALLENGE - Don’t tell @MikeH

13. Fire and Rain

Carole King & James Taylor - Live at the Troubadour

This record is incredible. An amazing show by two of the all-time singer-songwriter greats. I grew up listening to them because my mom was a fan. Their albums were among the few my sister and I both liked that my mom would play. The version of Fire and Rain on this is top tier. I'm listening in the dark with my headphones so as not to wake my wife and the music is making me smile like a fool. Good times.

Btw, it looks like you can get a copy of this for $8 on discogs right now. It's one of the best sounding records I have. You won't regret getting it even if you're only a casual fan.

Scored this one on a Zavvi deal (along with Kind of Blue, Sketches of Spain, Lady in Satin and Out to Lunch - a great bunch, that batch!) It was by far the most ravaged package of records I'd ever received, with most of the sleeves taking bumps, dings and even a slight bit of water damage somewhere between there and here - the records themselves, however, were pristine and sound fine for the time being. It was nice to add a stack of classics to the library for about the cost of only one of them. I could see myself upgrading to the TP mono someday, but there are so many things ahead of it on my wishlist so this one continues to suffice quite nicely.

***As usual, it will probably be something by a local artist, because that's the way I roll.
UPDATE!

I need to catch up!

14. Blue Train

As if my life wasn't complicated enough, now I got Super Secret Bonus Brownie Points to worry about. The fake rules keep changing. This challenge shifts on a whim as if it's run by, by......a dictator. This appears to be confirmation my previous comical remark that @Lee Newman lives at Mar-A-Lago is in fact not so comical.

Neil Young can do some weird things that many folks don't understand. There's always a deeper meaning beneath the surface.

In 1995 when Lionel Trains went bankrupt, Neil Young and some partners bought Lionel.

A wonderful story about Neil and trains and Ben. The best thing you'll watch today...
